NAVEODTECHDIV and L-3 needed to create software to track IEDs and explosive devices, maintain an Oracle data warehouse repository of information on the devices, reverse-engineer their electronic and software initiator components and develop counter-measures against them, and keep this information readily available over a secured intranet. TaylorMade Software developed special algorithms and software programs to help detect and track IEDs, allowing them to be destroyed proactively, thereby saving lives. Wired Magazine wrote an account of the operation.
