Cru - A Case Study in Video Editing, Security and Localization

Film editing with complex localization and security needs solved

Cru came to TaylorMade Software with a unique challenge: They had a single film that they wished to be dubbed into as many languages as possible, including instances where only a portion of the film might be “sliced and diced” into other films. Since there were no off-the-shelf products that could handle their needs, their in-house developers had created a desktop Delphi application, but it needed to be upgraded with new features and migrated to the web as an intranet portal application for secure access world-wide via VPN. Security was essential, because they sometimes operated in hostile countries. Greatly benefited by J.T. Taylor's background as a linguist, TaylorMade Software created custom aggregator functions within Oracle, a little known feature in which TaylorMade Software is expert. With our extensive modifications on aggregator functions, the scripts could be efficiently generated on-demand with near real-time updates, which we then integrated into a web-based system, securely accessible from anywhere in the world.
