Client: American Express Serve
Challenge: Convert Oracle databases to MySQL
Result: Nearly $100K in Savings
Serve, American Express’s reloadable account product, has been a game-changing success for the company. It was originally built on an Oracle database, but management realized that transitioning to MySQL would yield substantial cost-savings. Unfortunately, AmEx lacked a way to handle the continuous integration of MySQL database changes throughout their many IT environments.
TaylorMade Software developed the technical “glue” by creating a pure SQL-based testing tool with dynamic SQL in MySQL to automate the running of unit tests against and within the database system itself. By our estimates, this automation solution saved the client at least $100K per year in manual labor costs.
