With over 2 million SDG&E smart meters in California San Diego and Orange Counties, there was a backlog of investigations on meters that were not reliably returning results. To investigate each one manually would be a considerable investment in time, money, personnel, and other resources, such as fuel cost and maintenance for field vehicles. If a more automated system could be devised, it would create cost-savings and free up resources for other important tasks.
TaylorMade Software solved the problem for SDG&E by developing algorithms and software tools that increased gas meter end-point investigation throughput service levels by a factor of 10-fold, an achievement that was commended by executive management.
